Why Mindfulness?

I often recommend my therapy clients do this course. Here's why:

  • Awareness

In order to make lasting change, we need to first become aware of the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that create difficulty. Mindfulness helps us develop this awareness by training the area of the brain that controls our attention, and our ability to see ourselves more clearly.

  • Space

Often, thoughts and emotions can feel overwhelming. Mindfulness provides a little space, allowing us to manage thoughts and feelings better. Mindfulness won't make challenging feelings and thoughts disappear, but it will help us develop a healthier relationship with them.

  • Kindness

It's difficult to make improvements in life of we are putting ourselves down all the time. Being kind to ourselves is a skill we need to learn to be healthy in our own minds, and in our communities. Mindfulness offers us a practical training in self-compassion.
